Most Swedish people spend their summer in a summer house, that they call sommarstuga. With this print, I wanted to show what a classic Swedish summer holiday can look like. A sommarstuga, which essentially means summer house, is a simple yet beautiful and often very old wooden house, where Swedish people go to tend to the gardens, have fika on outdoor furniture and walk around wearing light and breezy summer clothes. This sommarstuga that I have drawn dates back to 1908, and the mother who lives here clearly has a fondness for the geranium, as so many Swedish people do. My own mother included :)
