Join Me For A Swedish Julfika?

Would you join me for a Swedish Julfika? Let's sit down together and have a cup of fragrant holiday tea, with cardamon, cloves, orange zest and pepparmint, or a rich cup of hot chocolate with fluffy whipped cream. And with our drinks of course, we need to have some traditional Swedish saffron buns. In Sweden, saffron has become the spice of Christmas and there are two ways to make saffron buns. One is the more traditional way where you simply roll the dough, fold the edges and place a raising in the center of each folded edge. The second is my favourite, which is a hybrid of saffron buns and cardamon buns, meaning that they are folded exactly the same way as cardamon buns and also baked the same way with almost paste, cardamon and butter. And of course, with that we have to have Swedish rice porridge. This is a fluffy and delicious rice porrage with whipped cream that we eat during Christmas. I typically have mine with cinnamon sprinkled on top, raspberry jam and clementine slices. Of course we can't forget gingerbread, and why not try some Swedish Christmas caramels and candy cane pieces? And last of all but certainly not least, you can't forget the Marzipan pig dipped in dark chocolate.
